Jess Sevetson received two major awards in 2022

Jess, who received an IRACDA fellowship in 2021, was selected a UC Chancellor Postdoctoral Fellow in March 2022 and received an NIH Loan Repayment Program LRP award this August.

The Chancellor’s Fellowship is awarded to postdocs who “show promise for a tenure-track appointment and who will contribute to diversity through their research, teaching, and/or service at the University of California”. This is well-deserved recognition, congratulations Jess! Jess wrote a Perspective on Receiving the UCSC Chancellor’s Award, which you can read here

The LRP award is based on scientific achievement and the prospect of a successful career in biomedical or biobehavioral research careers.

Jess works on recording and interpreting electrical signals emanating from brain organoids and is part of our Braingeneers team and the Center for Live Cell Genomics. As part of the UCSC’s IRACDA program Jess works with mentors from the California State University at Monterey Bay on pedagogy training and practice.
